Softball Recap: Great Falls Bison vs. Big Sky Eagles
On Saturday, Great Falls faced Big Sky in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Great Falls Bison fell just short of the Big Sky Eagles by a score of 12-11. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Great Falls of the 13-11 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.
Dykota Lyons and Aletta Hagen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lyons went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Hagen got on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ashley Little was another key contributor, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
On Big Sky's side, they got a massive performance out of Sadie Mcguinn, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Schaffer, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Great Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Big Sky, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 12-0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Great Falls is on the road again on Saturday to play Billings Senior at 12:00 p.m. As for Big Sky, they will challenge Glacier at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The pair have allowed few runs on average, (Glacier: 3.1, Big Sky: 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
