Softball Preview: Howland Tigers vs. Canfield Cardinals

Howland hasn't had much luck against Canfield recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Howland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Howland turned things around against Alliance on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Aviators.

Madison Schmitz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Moy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Howland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alliance struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, Canfield had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They never let the Red Raiders get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. Considering the Cardinals have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Canfield's record is now 13-1-1. As for Howland, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
