Basketball Game Preview: West Lincoln Rebels vs. Cherryville Ironmen

West Lincoln and Cherryville are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Rebels will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Ironmen at 6:30 p.m. West Lincoln has now lost eight straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 31.

West Lincoln is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Bunker Hill on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Rebels lost 74-52 to the Bears. The Rebels were down 60-37 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, West Lincoln had strong showings from Landon Blevins, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 21 points and six rebounds, and Jackson Edwards, who shot 56% from the field en route to 11 points and five boards. Edwards has also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Solomon Robinson was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cherryville). They breezed past Pinnacle Classical Academy to the tune of 72-34 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Cherryville and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points over those games. As for West Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything came up roses for West Lincoln against Cherryville in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured an 87-51 victory. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Ironmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
