Basketball Recap: Bishop McNamara Comes Up Short

If Bishop McNamara was feeling good fresh off their 77-48 takedown of Timothy Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish took an 81-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Unity Christian Academy Phoenix on Friday.

Unity Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason O'Neal led the charge by going 10 for 24 en route to 19 points in addition to five assists and five boards. O'Neal's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Allen, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Bishop McNamara's defeat dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Unity Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Bishop McNamara has already played their next contest (against Marian Central Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Unity Christian Academy, they will challenge Rolling Meadows at 5:00 p.m. on February 15th.
