Basketball Game Preview: McComb Panthers vs. Old Fort Stockaders

The McComb Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Old Fort Stockaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: McComb has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Old Fort will arrive with eight straight wins.

McComb came up short against Ridgemont on Saturday, falling 83-61. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 755th, while the Golden Gophers are ranked 314th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Old Fort). They claimed a resounding 101-31 victory over St. Joseph Central Catholic. The Stockaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Old Fort pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points over those games. As for McComb, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18.

McComb was dealt a bruising 73-42 defeat at the hands of Old Fort when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can McComb avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
