Basketball Recap: Raton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Santa Fe Prep last Tuesday, Raton came back down to earth. The Raton Tigers were dealt a 47-12 defeat at the hands of the Santa Rosa Lions on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost six in a row.

Santa Rosa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Willow Johnson out in front who posted nine points and six boards. Dakotah Lucero was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Raton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Santa Rosa, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Raton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-23 loss against Estancia on the 8th. As for Santa Rosa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-40 defeat against Clayton on the 8th.
