Basketball Recap: Dylan Groves' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Granite Baptist Academy over Frederick Baptist Academy

Granite Baptist Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Frederick Baptist Academy Patriots. The Guardians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Guardians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Groves, who posted 18 points. John Odeniran was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Frederick Baptist Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Good, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Good is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least 12 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Hardt, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 20 rebounds.

Granite Baptist Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Frederick Baptist Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Granite Baptist Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bayview Christian at 5:15 p.m. on February 10th. Frederick Baptist Academy has already played their next matchup, a 65-63 loss against Lighthouse Baptist Academy on the 4th.
