Basketball Recap: Highlands Takes a Loss

Highlands lost against Cherokee back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Highlands Highlanders took a blow against the Cherokee Braves, falling 88-16. The game marked the Highlanders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Highlands and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Cherokee, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Highlands and Cherokee should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Highlands (ranked 202nd) will meet Swain County (ranked 489th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cherokee will face off against Hiwassee Dam at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th up 141 places (16 vs. 157).
