Baseball Recap: Cranston West Falls Short Against Ranked East Providence

Cranston West faced East Providence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Falcons took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Townies. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Townies recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Michael Parks was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

At the plate, Cranston West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Madden, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Cranston West's defeat dropped their record down to 11-14. As for East Providence, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Cranston West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Providence, they will face off against Cumberland at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Clippers will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Townies surely won't give up without a fight.
