Basketball Recap: Groveton Takes a Loss

Groveton lost against Centerville back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Groveton Indians were dealt an 84-24 defeat at the hands of the Centerville Tigers. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-10.

Despite the loss, Groveton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ruger Mclain posted 14 points.

Jeromy Rosales went supernova for Centerville, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten steals. The dominant performance gave Rosales a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trae Phillips, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Groveton dropped their record down to 6-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Centerville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.

Groveton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-34 loss against Leon on the 3rd. As for Centerville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-40 defeat against Grapeland on the 3rd.
