Moreau Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Ferndale get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mariners.
Aiden Perry made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fabian Alvarez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Isaiah Clendinen was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Fort Bragg typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Las Lomas proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Timberwolves.
Fort Bragg's batters probably weren't too happy with Alessandro Martinez-Cabrera, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up two walks). Martinez-Cabrera also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Las Lomas is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10-1 otherwise.
Moreau Catholic's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Las Lomas, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11-1.
Moreau Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Las Lomas when the teams last played back in March, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mariners since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
