Baseball Recap: Waverly Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Waverly had lost seven straight, but after bumping their record up to 4-10 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Everett Vikings. The Warriors not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 24-0).

Tre Combs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Waverly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Everett only posted an OBP of .389.

As for Everett, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with Waverly: they've now lost seven in a row.

On Everett's side, Kannan Rensberry was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that Rensberry has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Owen Prevo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waverly will host Charlotte at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Everett, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carman-Ainsworth at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
