Basketball Recap: Weaver Takes a Loss

If Weaver was riding high fresh off their 76-38 takedown of Achievement First last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Weaver Beavers received a blow on Wednesday as they fell 56-42 to the Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens. The game marked the Beavers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Lebron White was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds for Academy of Science and Innovation. Those 14 boards gave White a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Warlin Franco, who went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points.

Weaver's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Weaver and Academy of Science and Innovation should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings. Weaver (ranked 88th) will meet Maine-Endwell (ranked 235th) at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Weaver will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Similarly, Academy of Science and Innovation will square off against Achievement First at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 92 places (36 vs. 128).
