Softball Recap: Memorial Wins Going Away Against Mckinley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Memorial). They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the McKinley Red Dragons on Saturday. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Red Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Bella Ornelas was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Memorial got a massive performance out of Mileena Williams, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ramani Adams, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory got Memorial back to even at 2-2. As for McKinley, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Memorial beat the Red Dragons by a score of 7-1 later that day.
