Baseball Game Preview: Wyalusing Valley Rams vs. Troy Trojans

The Wyalusing Valley Rams will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Troy Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wyalusing Valley's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

While Wyalusing Valley's victory against Tunkhannock wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Wyalusing Valley's pitchers stepped up to hand Tunkhannock a 1-0 shutout on Monday.

Jared Vandemark looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Wyalusing Valley's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kenny Mapes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Troy suffered their biggest loss since April 26, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against Athens, falling 14-4.

Mason Smith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Troy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Wyalusing Valley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Everything went Wyalusing Valley's way against Troy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Wyalusing Valley made off with a 10-3 win. Does Wyalusing Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Troy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
