Basketball Game Preview: Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians vs. Civic Memorial Eagles

The Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians will face off against the Civic Memorial Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carlyle is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.

Last Wednesday, Carlyle came up short against Glenwood and fell 60-52.

Defeat or not, Carlyle got some senior leadership from Lera Schmeink and Sophia Hoffmann. Schmeink went 7 for 15 on her way to 16 points, while Hoffmann dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Hoffmann has posted since back in February of 2024. Raelyn Harris was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, Carlyle was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glenwood only posted two assists.

Meanwhile, Civic Memorial suffered their closest loss since February 9, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Teutopolis by a score of 36-33. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Civic Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 18-4. As for Carlyle, their loss dropped their record down to 18-5.
