Basketball Recap: Cherokee Comes Up Short

Cherokee and Shoals Christian squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Cherokee had to settle for second. They lost 50-24 to the Shoals Christian Flame. The Indians' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Shoals Christian was led to victory by Sarah Davis (2025) and Kaleigh Owen. Davis (2025) dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Owen went 6 for 10 on her way to 19 points and four steals. Davis (2025)'s evening made it 18 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Mamie Bachofer was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Cherokee's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Shoals Christian, they pushed their record up to 8-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Cherokee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shoals Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-59 defeat against Waterloo on the 4th.
