Nixon-Smiley skates past Luling with ease

Recap: Nixon-Smiley Mustangs vs. Luling Eagles

The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They claimed a resounding 58-23 win over Luling on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Nixon-Smiley has managed all season.

Leading Nixon-Smiley to victory were Grace Gomez and Janaelyn White. Gomez scored 11 points along with nine steals, while White dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 steals. Gomez is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Alize Davila, who scored nine points.

Nixon-Smiley's victory bumped their record up to 8-22. As for Luling, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.

Nixon-Smiley will be playing at home against Randolph at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Luling, they will head out on the road to take on Great Hearts Northern Oaks at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Great Hearts Northern Oaks is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
