Basketball Game Preview: Waco Lions vs. Ellison Eagles

Waco is 0-10 against Ellison since November of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Waco Lions will welcome the Ellison Eagles at 2:00 p.m.

Waco is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. Their2024 ended with a 53-34 loss against Kingwood. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Ellison can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They strolled past Kingwood with points to spare, taking the game 44-27. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Mustangs are ranked 574th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waco's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Ellison, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.

Waco couldn't quite finish off Ellison in their previous meeting back in January and fell 44-42. Can Waco avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
