The Lake Holcombe Chieftains pushed their score all the way to 82 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 116-82 defeat at the hands of Winter. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (69), Lake Holcombe still had to take the loss.
Carter Petit was his usual excellent self, scoring 38 points along with six steals and five assists for Winter. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Petit has scored all season. Gunnar Greuel was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds.
Lake Holcombe has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Winter, they pushed their record up to 17-7 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
Lake Holcombe will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Flambeau at 7:00 p.m. on February 27th.
