            Baseball Recap: Chariho Chargers vs. Prout Crusaders        
        
		
        
        
            Chariho hadn't beaten Prout on the road since June 5, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them  on Saturday. The Chargers came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of  6-3. The  win was familiar territory for the Chargers, who have now won three  games in a row.

 Gavyn Pepler was a  major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he  struck out nine batters over  four innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits. Those  nine  strikeouts gave  him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with one  home run and four  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Adam Carpenter and  Rohan Downing did most of the damage at the plate:  Carpenter  went 2-for-3 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI, while  Downing  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  runs. That's the most  hits  Carpenter has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was  Gavin Apice, who  went 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases and one  run.
Chariho's record is now 10-8. As for Prout,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 8-10.
 Coming up, Chariho will welcome East Greenwich  at 5:15  p.m.  on Monday. As for Prout, they will host Middletown  at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday. The Islanders are coming into the  match with six straight  victories on the road,  so the Crusaders will have to stop a  squad with plenty of momentum.
