Green Valley extended the longest winning streak in I Sunrise - Northeast this week by beating Las Vegas, 43-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Gators.
The Wildcats' dynamic duo of Trevor Swenson and Joshua Mayfield proved tough for Green Valley to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Swenson threw for 153 yards and one touchdown and Mayfield had 76 yards receiving. Raymone Robinson helped Las Vegas' passing attack out by catching four balls for 29 yards.
Alex Cater was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 38 carries, he ran for 178 yards as Silverado lost to the Gators. Teammate Alek Aragon added to the ground attack by rushing for 95 yards.
The Wildcats' Swenson and Mayfield have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Swenson has thrown for 990 yards this season, while Mayfield, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 28 catches for 351 yards. The Skyhawks' Cater leads the league in rushing yards with 1392.
The marquee game in I Sunrise - Northeast this week will be the clash between Silverado and Las Vegas. The Skyhawks enters the game ranked 24th in the state, while the Wildcats ranks 21st.
Green Valley made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,098 from 1,958. The improvement was the result of 43-14 victory over Las Vegas last week.
