Softball Recap: Oak Hill Takes a Loss

If Oak Hill was riding high fresh off their 12-5 takedown of Madison on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain Valley Falcons on Thursday. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Izzy Whitaker put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Whitaker was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Whitaker wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carlee Austin, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Oak Hill now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Mountain Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4.

Looking ahead, Oak Hill will host Sacopee Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Mountain Valley, they will venture away from home to face off against Dirigo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
