Basketball Game Preview: Roscommon Bucks vs. Pine River Area Bucks

Roscommon and Pine River Area are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Roscommon Bucks will challenge the Pine River Area Bucks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Roscommon is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Pine River Area on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Roscommon lost 67-42 to Pine River Area. While losing is never fun, Roscommon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 490th, while Pine River Area is ranked 122nd).

Pine River Area's win came from a few key players Roscommon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mason Gugle, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Trevor Holmquist, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points and five boards.

Pine River Area smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Pine River Area's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Roscommon, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
