Football Recap: Chase Falls to Polk County in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Chase had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Polk County Wolverines by a score of 34-32 on Friday. While the Trojans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolverines 6-0 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Chase still got an impressive performance from Darin Tipton, who threw for 389 yards and three TDs. Kaiden Boyce helped Tipton out on the ground, picking up 36 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also punching in one rushing score.

Polk County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Loreynzo Sanchez led the charge by rushing for 234 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 76 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Styler Blackwell, who picked up 125 receiving yards and three TDs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chase will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Blacksburg at 7:30 p.m. on September 5. As for Polk County, they will face off against Newton-Conover at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 881 yards in their previous games.
