Football Recap: Chase Trojans vs. Polk County Wolverines
Chase kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Polk County Wolverines by a score of 34-32. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Despite the loss, Chase still got an impressive performance from Darin Tipton, who threw for 389 yards and three touchdowns. 146 of those passing yards were hauled in by Trajan Littlejohn, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Polk County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Loreynzo Sanchez, who rushed for 234 yards and one score while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 76 receiving yards. Sanchez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 89-yard run. Another player making a difference was Styler Blackwell, who picked up 125 receiving yards and three TDs.
Chase will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Blacksburg at 7:30 p.m. on September 5. As for Polk County, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-14 defeat against Newton-Conover on the 29th.
