Softball Recap: Carlson Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Carlson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lincoln Park Railsplitters a 15-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Addison Skinner made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Skinner was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiley Lewandowski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Butt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Carlson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Carlson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Lincoln Park, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Carlson is set to challenge their familiar foe Allen Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lincoln Park will take on rival Trenton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
