Softball Recap: Edwin O. Smith Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Edwin O. Smith waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Bristol Central Rams as they made off with a 16-3 win. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 13-1 victory the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Olivia Lipps made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, Rachael Morales was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Bella Kaldy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Edwin O. Smith was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Edwin O. Smith pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bristol Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
