Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Anthony Steele and Marvin Richard Lll Lead Pine Ridge to Victory

The third road contest was the charm for Pine Ridge, as they earned their first road win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 69-52 victory over the Hot Springs Bison on Friday. Given the Thorpes' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Bison are ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pine Ridge was led to victory by Marvin Richard Lll and Anthony Steele. Richard Lll went 11 for 22 on his way to 29 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while Steele went 8 of 20 on his way to 24 points along with eight assists and four steals. Richard Lll's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Black Feather, who posted five points.

Pine Ridge now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Hot Springs, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Pine Ridge will venture away from home to square off against Sioux Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. As for Hot Springs, they will be taking part in a tournament against Oelrichs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
