Baseball Game Preview: Beatrice Orangemen vs. Waverly Vikings

The Beatrice Orangemen will face off against the Waverly Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Beatrice is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Beatrice after they put the first runs on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elkhorn North.

Ty Weichel was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for Beatrice: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Waverly was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Blair by a score of 3-2.

Hunter Thoms made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Waverly's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Beatrice, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Beatrice hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Waverly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
