Baseball Recap: Houston County Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bolivar Central, Houston County was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Fighting Irish as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brody Powell was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Burgess, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

Houston County's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Houston County will host East Hickman County at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, they will challenge Perry County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
