Lowell has gone 8-2 against Hobart recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Red Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Brickies at 4:45 p.m. Lowell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Lowell and Illiana Christian, and Lowell kept the tradition alive. The Red Devils were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Vikings on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Devils considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Olivia Fuentes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Fuentes was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matchups.
In other batting news, Preslee Hill was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. Peyton Lonardi was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Hobart's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost 11-1 to Munster. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Brickies couldn't push the score so high this time.
Hobart saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emili Knestrict, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Lowell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Hobart, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Hobart's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Lowell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hobart, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 strikeouts. Will Lowell keep running through batters, or will the Brickies buck the trend?
Everything went Lowell's way against Hobart in their previous meeting back in April, as Lowell made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
