Keystone Oaks took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against South Allegheny, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Eagles had just enough and edged out the Gladiators 5-3. For the Golden Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 13-2 victory the Gladiators walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Kennadi Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Smith wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kailyn Brannon, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Brannon is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Keystone Oaks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Allegheny only posted a batting average of .172.

The win got Keystone Oaks back to even at 9-9. As for South Allegheny, the loss snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 12-2 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Keystone Oaks will challenge Peters Township at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Allegheny, they will welcome Shady Side Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
