Baseball Recap: Heritage Comes Up Short

Heritage extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-13. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mt. Pleasant Oilers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Oilers this season, with their most recent loss being a 6-3 defeat on Monday.

As for Mt. Pleasant, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.1 runs on average over those games.

For Mt. Pleasant's part, Kyle Wallace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Mt. Pleasant's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aryan Punjabi, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

While Heritage had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
