Basketball Game Preview: Newton Railroaders vs. Andover Trojans

Newton hasn't had much luck against Andover recently, but that could start to change on Friday. After both having extra time off, both will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Newton took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 67-52 win over Salina Central. The Railroaders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Andover over Goddard in every quarter on their way to victory last Friday. Everything went Andover's way against Goddard as Andover made off with an 81-55 victory. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Trojans had established a 25 point advantage.

The win made it two in a row for Andover and bumps their season record up to 2-2. As for Newton, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Newton took a serious blow against Andover in their previous meeting back in February, falling 66-32. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Newton was down 42-9.
