Basketball Recap: Clarksville Gets the Win

Rising Sun came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Clarksville, but Tiarra Lewis wouldn't allow it. The Clarksville Generals walked away with a 51-41 win over the Rising Sun Shiners on Saturday thanks in part to Lewis, who went 9 of 20 on her way to 20 points in addition to five assists and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Clarksville's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jayonna Shirley, who posted seven points and 19 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

Rising Sun's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vicky Erickson, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Carrigan Friend, who put up 11 points and three steals.

Clarksville's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Rising Sun, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clarksville will face off against Salem at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rising Sun, they will square off against South Dearborn at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
