Baseball Recap: Harlan County Takes a Loss

The matchup between Harlan County and Clay County on Saturday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Black Bears came up short against the Tigers, falling 17-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Black Bears have suffered against the Tigers since March 19, 2022.

Brayden Morris was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Harlan County is 2-1 when Morris posts two or more runs, but 3-6-1 otherwise. Alex Creech also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Harlan County moved to 5-7-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Clay County, their record is now 11-7.

Coming up, Harlan County will be playing at home against Bell County on Monday. As for Clay County, they will venture away from home to take on North Laurel at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
