Softball Recap: Lake Stevens Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Lake Stevens, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against the Cascade Bruins on Monday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-2 on April 1st.

Charli Pugmire spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Reese Breckenridge was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cassie Raysbrook, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Lake Stevens always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cascade only posted an OBP of .296.

Lake Stevens now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Cascade, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Stevens will challenge Jackson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cascade, they will take on Arlington at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last five games the Eagles have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
