Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon). They blew past the San Marcos Rattlers 52-7 on Friday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 21 points or more this season.
Canyon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Deitrick, who threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown. Another rusher making a difference was Jackson Regan, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for San Marcos, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-11.
Canyon will challenge Medina Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Marcos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
