Basketball Recap: Morehead Comes Up Short

Morehead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 65-53 to The North Carolina Leadership Academy Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-71 back in November.

The North Carolina Leadership Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryas Ferguson, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. The game was Ferguson's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Caden Ryker, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 18 points and three blocks.

Morehead's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for The North Carolina Leadership Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Morehead and Martinsville will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The North Carolina Leadership Academy will take on Mount Airy in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
