Soccer Game Preview: Nooksack Valley vs. Mt. Baker

The Nooksack Valley Pioneers will square off against the Mt. Baker Mountaineers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nooksack Valley's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for ten straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Nooksack Valley is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Meridian last Thursday. The Pioneers fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Nooksack Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Meridian are ranked 91st).

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Mt. Baker and Blaine had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mountaineers fell 2-0 to the Borderites last Thursday.

Mt. Baker's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Nooksack Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Everything went Nooksack Valley's way against Mt. Baker when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Nooksack Valley made off with a 4-1 win. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountaineers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
