Basketball Recap: Foster Falls Despite Big Games from Camran Bateman and Jaron Martin

Foster lost against Strake Jesuit back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Foster Falcons fell just short of the Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders by a score of 55-52. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Fighting Crusaders are ranked 110th).

Foster's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaron Martin, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds, and Camran Bateman, who went 5-for-7 en route to 12 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Bateman has posted since back in December of 2024. Daniel Humphrey was another key player, putting up six points along with six boards and three blocks.

Foster's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Strake Jesuit, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Foster will head out on the road to face off against Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jordan will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Foster surely won't give up without a fight. As for Strake Jesuit, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cinco Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Strake Jesuit's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
