Baseball Recap: Lakeway Christian Academy Starts off Right with Win over Gatlinburg-Pittman

Lakeway Christian Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They never let the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders onto the board and left with a 19-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2022.

Chase Gockenbach made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he also racked up five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Landon Holmes looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he also racked up four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Davis Peralta-Lawson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Brock Mauk, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeway Christian Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Webb at 5:45 p.m. on March 3rd. Gatlinburg-Pittman will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Claiborne at 6:00 p.m. on February 28th.
