Basketball Recap: Granite Hills Eagles vs. Bonita Vista Barons
Granite Hills played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 62-41 to the Bonita Vista Barons. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 851st, while the Barons are ranked 283rd).

Defeat or not, Granite Hills got some senior leadership from Lathan Fry and Andre Dankha. Fry posted seven points in addition to 13 rebounds and five blocks, while Dankha scored 11 points and seven boards. Fry is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 21 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasen Hughes, who had seven points and five rebounds.
Aaron Owens was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards for Bonita Vista. That makes it three consecutive games in which Owens has scored at least a third of Bonita Vista's points. Another player making a difference was Jerry Stokes, who put up 14 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Granite Hills and nudges their season record down to 5-10. As for Bonita Vista, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Granite Hills has already played their next contest, a 52-50 victory against Foothills Christian on the 11th. As for Bonita Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-46 loss against San Diego on the 15th.
