Basketball Recap: Caprock Academy Drops Season-High Score on Lake County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caprock Academy). They blew past the Lake County Panthers 52-24 on Friday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-9.

Leading Caprock Academy to victory were Taylor Phillips and Ashley Wilke. Phillips posted 14 points in addition to eight boards and five steals, while Wilke dropped a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Phillips has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rachel Bogan, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Caprock Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 42 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Caprock Academy and bumps their season record up to 7-16. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points on average over those games. As for Lake County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
