Basketball Recap: Martinique Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pinecrest Academy Cadence over Doral Academy Red Rock

Pinecrest Academy Cadence saw some tournament action on Thursday. They took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Martinique Brown, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 15 points and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Gebriel Quimoyog, who posted seven points and four steals.

Leading Doral Academy Red Rock to victory were Kobe Artadi and Daiton Williams. Artadi went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds, while Williams put up nine points along with six steals and five assists. Brennan Cuello was another key player, putting up eight points.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Waterford the next time they take the court. Pinecrest Academy Cadence will head out to face Waterford at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Doral Academy Red Rock will head out to face them at 8:45 a.m. on Friday.
