Softball Game Preview: Middletown Blue Dragons vs. Platt Panthers

The Middletown Blue Dragons will venture away from home to take on the Platt Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Middletown will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Plainville hit Middletown with a four-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Dragons fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Dragons have lost by just one run.

Middletown saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gia Lane, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Cooper Porch was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Platt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 25-13 to Farmington. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Middletown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Platt, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Middletown got the 'W' in their previous meeting two weeks ago against Platt by a conclusive 20-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Dragons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
