Softball Game Preview: Sweet Home Huskies vs. Molalla Indians

The Sweet Home Huskies will head out on the road to square off against the Molalla Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sweet Home's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Marshfield.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Molalla, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Valley Catholic on Tuesday. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Indians yet this season.

Brenna Jackson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Grace Ferlan was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Josie Brooks was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Molalla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Molalla's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1. As for Sweet Home, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Sweet Home couldn't quite finish off Molalla in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 10-8. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
