Softball Game Preview: Bradshaw Christian Pride vs. Argonaut Mustangs

The Bradshaw Christian Pride are taking a road trip to square off against the Argonaut Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Argonaut took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bradshaw Christian, who comes in off a win.

Bradshaw Christian proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Union Mine 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pride have posted since April 29, 2024.

Kaylee Hand spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lexi Ortiz was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Avery Slater, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Bradshaw Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Argonaut fell victim to East Union and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 8-0 to the Lancers. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Bradshaw Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Argonaut, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-5 record.

Bradshaw Christian might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Argonaut in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Pride avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
