Basketball Game Preview: Vanlue Wildcats vs. Temple Christian Pioneers

The Vanlue Wildcats just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Temple Christian Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Vanlue is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Vanlue came up short against Elmwood on Friday, falling 51-30.

Vanlue's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Owen Roszman, who posted ten points and three steals, and Landon Saltzman, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Roszman has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, Temple Christian made easy work of Elgin on Friday and carried off a 57-32 win. The game marked the Pioneers' most dominant victory of the season.

Temple Christian has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Vanlue, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Vanlue ended up a good deal behind Temple Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2024, losing 54-37. Can Vanlue avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
